Would you like to be involved in developing and leading the operations of a sports association?
We are now seeking a Managing Director who will be responsible for the organization’s strategic planning, financial management, stakeholder cooperation, team leadership, program development, and operational work within the Elämäni Kunnossa program.
About Monaliiku
Monaliiku is a non-profit organization that promotes the well-being and physically active lifestyle of multicultural women and girls in Finland. Through various projects and activities, we offer opportunities for physical activity, support inclusion, and strengthen community engagement.
Key Responsibilities of the Managing Director
- Strategic Leadership: implement and develop the organization’s strategy, including setting and monitoring long-term goals; identify and utilize opportunities for growth and development; work in close collaboration with the board to ensure that the organization fulfills its mission and long-term goals.
- Financial Management: prepare and implement financial plans to secure operations; responsible for finances: budgeting, forecasting, and reporting; ensure compliance with financial regulations and legislation; participate in drafting project applications and securing funding.
- Policy and Compliance: ensure that everyone involved in the organization knows and adheres to its rules; monitor the regulatory environment and ensure legal compliance.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: build and maintain trusted relationships with members, authorities, partners, and other stakeholders; represent Monaliiku publicly and on various forums.
- Coordination and Organization of Daily Operations: lead the team, including organizing work, delegating responsibilities, and supporting staff; maintain a positive work environment and motivation, and develop team competence.
- Coordination of Activities and Programs: oversee and support the development and implementation of projects and activities, particularly to promote the physical well-being of multicultural women and girls; ensure that activities support Monaliiku’s strategic goals and meet the needs of the target group.
- Operational Responsibility in the Elämäni Kunnossa Program (Elämäni kunnossa/Fit4Life - Monikansallisten naisten hyvinvointi ja liikunta ry): support participants and strengthen the sense of community that encourages physical activity and well-being;
- Risk Management: identify potential issues and find solutions that ensure operational continuity and development; develop and implement risk management strategies.
We Expect from You
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as NGO administration, business, or social sciences.
- Understanding of the situations of multicultural women and girls in Finland.
- Previous leadership experience is an advantage but not required – we are looking for someone who is willing to grow as a leader and take on responsibility in a developing role.
- Experience in project coordination, community work, or the NGO sector is considered an asset.
- Good understanding of financial management and fundraising.
- Familiarity with NGO leadership and good governance practices.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with various stakeholders.
- Analytical and solution-oriented thinking.
- Knowledge of sports and physical activity operations.
- Ability to plan and implement projects.
- Self-directed working style and a proactive attitude toward development.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills in Finnish and English – other languages are considered an advantage.

Other Important Information
- Employment duration: Permanent
- Working hours: Regular weekly working hours are 37.5 hours. The position may include evening and weekend work.
- Workplace: Our office is located at Mäkelänkatu 54 B, 3rd floor, 00510 Helsinki.
- Start date: The new Managing Director is expected to start on June 16, 2025.
- Probationary period: A six-month probation period applies.
- Salary: Determined in accordance with the Collective Agreement for Sports Organizations.
- Collective Agreement: Monaliiku ry follows the Collective Agreement for Sports Organizations.
