#BeInclusive EU Sport Awards 2023
25.4.2024
On the 16th and 17th of April, our Executive Director, Claudia Nystrand, and Project Coordinator, Margareta Toivanen represented Monaliiku at the EU Sport Forum 2023 in Liége (Belgium), an annual event organized by the European Commission in support of the continuous dialogue with the European and international sport community.
In the same occasion, on the 16th, the #BeInclusive EU Sport Awards ceremony took place. Monaliiku has been nominated among the finalists for SwimPower. It was not the first time for us: already in 2018, we were awarded for Fit4Life. Therefore, when we heard about the second nomination, we could only be grateful and excited.
Since 2020, Monaliiku has emphasised the importance of swimming in the empowerment of multicultural women. SwimPower is one of our brightest gems: every year, we organize 8 swimming courses and over 840 women have taken part of them since the project started.
“This initiative not only equips individuals with a life-saving skill but also fosters a sense of belonging and empowerment within a supportive community.”
We did not win this year, but, as we say when it comes to practice sport, what matters is participation! And we sincerely mean it. We are profoundly grateful to be part of this mindful international community, where holistic well-being is the core principle to build a more equal and inclusive society.
Moments like this are always precious. They foster enrichment through the exchange of ideas and shared values. #BeInclusive is not just a slogan, it is a commitment to be respected and implemented in communities of action.
