Finnish-Nigerian Ayisat Yusuf-Aromire to attend FURD Female Football

Nigerian born Ayisat Yusuf-Aromire, a former professional football player and now a football
coach/personal trainer paving the way for women integration through football and sports globally, is to
attend FURD (Football Unites, Racism Divides) first Female Football Festival on Saturday 5th of March
20016 at U-Mix Centre, Lowfield, Sheffield, as part of her remarkable contribution to sports and
women integration.
Ayisat will be helping out at the free event for girls’ coaching session. She will also be giving a speech at
the opening event. This year’s event will feature a variety of free activities for women and girls of all
ages and will also showcase various films for example “Balls, Barriers and Bulldozers”, a film
documentary about women’s football in Palestine.

Ayisat started her football career in Nigeria playing for clubs like the Delta Queens and the Capital
Queens, just to mention a few and has long since kept the passion for the sport. During her football
career, she played for Nigeria in the Women’s World Cup at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, the 2007
Senior FIFA World Cup in China, the 2007 All African Games in Algeria, and the 2004 African Cup of
Nations in South Africa. She also has a track record of playing with some Swedish and Finnish
professional football clubs. Currently, residing in Finland, Ayisat is an active contributor and activist in
sports and integration activities. Ayisat also works as a football coach, volunteer and motivator in Monaliiku ry, a Finnish Non-
Governmental Organization (NGO) that works to encourage and promote the active participation of

She has also been actively involved in several other organizations promoting integration through sports,
campaigns combating discrimination in football and cross-cultural learning. Ayisat is a board member
with Network FARE with UEFA, where she represents Monaliiku and also with Liikkukaa ry Sports
for All.
Ayisat’s passion for football through her coaching career and her dedication to encourage
immigrant women integrate through football is not only commendable but is an example of true
sportsmanship.
